sa 20 Jun 2009 | ♫ Maybe it's us but Man in the Hat's voice seems to have moved from baritone to tenor since we first heard it at Hachfest four? years ago ... either way it's essentially enjoyable tunefullness was making him new friends at the Framlingham Crown last night.
|
fr 17 Apr 2009 | Long time bar manager at the Framlingham Station and more recently manager of the Crown Hotel Gareth Clelland will be joining ex-Station chef Phil next week at the Wright Brother's Oyster Bar in a large town near Chelmsford. We ate there last year at a birthday party and encouragingly porter beer is served. |
mo 5 Jan 2009 | After four years doing work of national importance dispensing liquid therapy at the Framlingham Station yesterday was bar manager Gareth Clelland's last day, but he's only moving up the hill to become manager of the Crown Hotel.
|
mo 5 Jan 2009 | Good news for ntc musos, strong rumours that the Ipswich Railway will re-open with the last landlords of the Ipswich Milestone (another muso pub) behind the bar and the Milestone is expected to re-open today with Roy Hunt previously of the Framlingham Crown and presently the Ipswich Station in charge. |
we 12 Nov 2008 | We've heard from two different and usually reliable sources that Framlingham's Crown Hotel has new tenants. What goes round comes round but we're going to miss Roy ... he certainly made things happen; the bungee jump, music on the hill and at least three street fayres.
|
fr 18 Jul 2008 | Last night was comedy night at The Crown Hotel, Framlingham. Being from a large town near Chelmsford the acts went to The Crown Hotel ... Woodbridge. |
su 8 Jun 2008 | .jpg)
Lot's of exotic East European machinery at the back of The Framlingham Crown this morning including a Russian GAZ army truck which was also used by the East German army, so in context for this lady to be wearing East German uniform. The convoy set off for Sizewell where Wartburgs and sexy V8 Tatras flaunted themselves in the much welcome sun. The lady had been joined by an East German flag and her boyfriend now in uniform. They told us they had a rubber Kalashnikov but had thought it best not to bring it, which was just as well as there are now armed police patrols around the power station. This nice bunch of people then went on to the Bentwaters Open Day and we're glad they got one good day out of the weekend (14mm of rain yesterday). |
tu 26 Feb 2008 | The Framlingham Crown still doesn't have any gas but reubens' kitchen at the back is all electric, so a virtually full house (just three seats left unfilled) for the Arts Framlingham lunch got a good looking meal. The guest speaker Tom Corby was Court Correspondent from 1985 till 1992 (Court Correspondent is an appointment created by Queen Victoria). We're sworn to secrecy about his talk so you'll just have to ask someone who was there. |
sa 27 Oct 2007 | The ladies at Ladies Night in reubens yesterday were determined to enjoy themselves and enjoy themselves they certainly did. The bar was given a good seeing to; Miss Klio had VERY big hair, VERY high heels, a good singing voice, on occasion made VERY sexually explicit comment and got everybody up for the Abba singalong; when Sexecute revealed all (we missed Diesel's act) there were some blushes but perhaps that's part of what makes the occasion. The performers added to the evening by mingling off stage giving the ladies a little opportunity to brush up against showbiz. Can't help but suspect something like this will happen again.

th 20 Jul 2007 |
The Sunday Carvery has moved to reubens bar & grill. |
we 18 Jul 2007 | Executive chef Simon Pickess joined at the beginning of the year and for some reason we didn't tell you about it! |
we 4 Jul 2007 | Everybody wanted to know what the red carpet was for outside the Framlingham Crown, indeed Linda from the stationers sent a runner to find out, and now you all know it was for the twins Gemima and Alice's eleventh birthday party complete with stretch limo that had been delayed by the traffic for the Rod Stewart concert in Ipswich.
|
th 28 Jun 2007 | Pics of reubens first night on their site and you would have thought we would want a breather after that but No! Today we became the new landlords of the Station Hotel in Ipswich.
|
fr 15 Jun 2007 | reubens was officially opened this morning was and is fully booked for tonight. |
tu 5 Jun 2007 |
The builders handed over Reubens yesterday and a little calm descended on the courtyard though there'll still be a certain amount of dashing about as we get ready for the opening on Friday 15th June. Reubens was officially opened this morning |
th 31 May 2007 | Le Patron Roy Hunt has had to explain so many times how he broke his wrist that he wants the world to know he fell off a ladder at home and yes, it was bloody silly and yes, he is finding it difficult to point at things. |
tu 8 May 2007 |
Lot's of activity out the back including much amusement when Roy and Tracy spotted a builder falling through the roof ... no, not really but the courtyard is open with two circles created out of cobbles from the stables making a little nod to the past. |
tu 10 Apr 2007 | The lovely sunshine this Easter meant our courtyard was much used. Regrettably from today until the end of next week building work on Reuben's Bar and Grill means the courtyard may not be available and there may not be access to the hotel through the courtyard from the car park.
|
th 22 Mar 2007 | Work has started at the rear to convert the stables into Reuben's Bar and Grill which has already got its own web site. |
sa 10 Mar 2007 | Wireless Internet has been unavailable in most of the bedrooms since yesterday morning, expect it back on by tomorrow evening. |
we 7 Mar 2007 | By the car park at the rear we have the stables which were rather appropriately used at last year's Street Fayre for a live nativity complete with donkey! This spring the stables are being sympathetically restored and converted to a bar and restaurant so we can offer even more facilities. The bit that has caught us out is discovering Brown Long-Eared Bats in the roof. We are observing all conservation guidelines and regs about our non-paying guests and inevitably it has slowed things down but we are still on course for opening the new restaurant this summer.
|
su 4 Feb 2007 | Because of the chicken flu up the road (not to be confused with chicken beer) there's a Sky news team staying at the Framlingham The Crown including Robert Nisbet, Paul Harrison and Paul Brennan, ... mmm ... three presenters? Must be bigger than we realise ...
|
su 31 Dec 2006 | Again a fired up No Spring Chicken got everyone dancing and gave Opportunity Knocks to chef Gary and his dad (who looked nothing like The Proclaimers) and housekeeper Hester (Santa baby). After complimentary Bucks Fizz (May I say your hair is looking particularly lovely this evening) and the obligatory Auld Langs Syne (with some kissing) recently resigned barman Will (he's off to be a ski instructor) led a very good natured and longer than last year conga line round The Market Hill. Ellie Adele was much admired by everyone including Community Police Officer Andrea Honeywood and yet again a thundering good time was universally enjoyed.

fr 8 Dec 2006 |
For the 2006 Street Fayre it was a free choice in fancy dress at The Crown. The pic of Cilla as a clown was so successful that The Community News printed it, Mandy liked her saloon girl costume so much she didn't want to send it back, the cowboy saloon theme continued behind the bar and as in 2004 we had another charming Tinkerbell. |
sa 28 cc 2006 |
Ellie Adele Clifford is now some five weeks old but here's a pic of her at just a few days hanging out at the bungee jump. |
tue 19 Sep 2006 | Top member of staff Tracy Clifford gave birth to a 7lb 5oz little girl this morning and we're all absolutely delighted. Congratulations Tracy! Excitement builds for Friday's bungee jump with an article in yesterday's East African, our Scottish chef jumping in the kilt (possibly in Black Watch mode), four corporate entertainment tables booked (though there are still tables left) and BBC TV's Look East expected to do a live broadcast from the jump. |
tu 12 Sep 2006 | Golly gosh! And golly gosh again! The actor Bernard Hill will be jumping Friday week outside the hotel with his eleven year old son Gabriel. |
mo 10 Jul 2006 | The survey of wireless Internet in the bedrooms was completed yesterday. More repeaters soon to increase the coverage. |
mo 26 Jun 2006 |
Buying a hot chocolate or coffee gives you the right to sit in the lounge and drink it and then, like this lad has worked out, you can get free wireless Internet to do your homework! |
th 15 Jun 2006 | For the second year running we're the box office for the three week Arts Framlingham. New events this year are Reader, I married him and the Jazz Picnic. |
tu 9 May 2006 | The new person in reception and working very closely with Tracy Clifford is Kelly Doel. If Kelly can put up with Roy (and it's surprising how many people can) then she will be helping to launch the new restaurant in the stables conversion at the back of The Crown later this year.
|
tu 4 Apr 2006 | Malgorzata (who inevitably we know as Maggie) was 27 today and rather touchingly she said this was the first time she'd ever been given flowers.
|
th 23 Feb 2006 | A wireless internet repeater was installed Monday in the housekeeper's room and free wireless Internet is now available in the majority of the bedrooms as well as the bar, lounge, etc. |
fr 20 Jan 2006 | Happy New Year and free! (but don't tell Roy) wireless Internet is available in the bar, lounge and dining room. Just turn up with your wireless enabled laptop and connect to The Fram Crown channel.
Over the next couple of weeks the service will be extended to all the bedrooms. |
| Room Three is much liked because the "lobby" is big enough to use as a sitting room and even has its own television. When you enter Room Three facing you are two club chairs where you can sit to watch the tv to your right. Also on your right is the door to an immense walk in wardrobe and the steps leading to the bathroom. The "lobby" can take two cots or a cot and zed-bed. To your left is the bedroom with a desk and a comfortable double bed.
