Surely it can't already be Folkeast's fifth Blaxhall season? This Friday in the village hall it's John Kirkpatrick who squeezes accordions, melodeons and concertinas whilst singing and in between makes you laugh.

Smashing! Parham Airfield Museum is reopening next month, free entry but you do need to book. Moto-X returns Sunday on the Blaxhall circuit but regrettably the Framlingham Gala Monday has been cancelled for the second year running.

♫ The Blaxhall Ship has a very honorable folk music history. FolkEast are continuing the tradition with Friday night concerts in the village hall. The second concert of the season is tomorrow the 12th with the Melrose Quartet.

It's going to be a busy Sunday tomorrow with the Dunwich Dynamo passing through near the coast in the early hours, open gardens in Double Street Framlingham, free step dancing at the Blaxhall Ship, classic car day at the Debach Airfield and St Lawrence's Brundish will be visited by The Right Reverend Martin Seeley Lord Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, probably the first visit by the diocesan bishop in 60 years and there's a picnic as well.

It's certainly the village fete season, Saturday we went to the Wrabness fete which is pretty much a mini festival. We enjoyed fish curry, a very theatrical human fruit machine, a bird of prey that decided to go off for a 15 minute fly round and a woman singer who might be Jackie Hole of The Super Things ... more near the coast it's Blaxhall's turn to fete this coming Saturday.

Moto-x at Blaxhall this Sunday which will include the fifth round of the eastern centre expert and junior championships. Further if different two wheeled competition starts Wednesday with six weeks of nocturne cycle races we think at Trinity Park near Ipswich, as so often in Suffolk their web site seems to assume you know where.

A 23 mile bike ride this Saturday to support Cancer Research UK starting and finishing at the Blaxhall Ship and taking in Snape, Orford and Iken with a short cut for thems that wants it.

We first stayed in the Blaxhall youth hostel in the early 1970s on a cycling holiday and visited again later in the decade when the hostel was used as a cyclo-cross headquarters. Next Saturday is the first ever YHA Day and the Blaxhall hostel is marking it with an open day.
