Hacheston Village Hall in 2008Friday night is Quiz Night in the lovely new Hacheston village hall with entry including a ploughman's.  (New?  Blimey!  It's at least 13 years old!)  It's too late to book but we suspect if they're short of quizzers you'll be welcome.

Romaine Humphreys on the last day in her shopNoticed this afternoon that the Hacheston shop is empty.   Crikey!  That's 14 years since Romaine closed as a corner shop partly because Royal Mail closed the post office counter.

Ref Matthew Hyndman hintingIt was free to spectate and a family atmosphere for Ipswich Sport Karate Club in the Hacheston village hall Saturday.  We particularly enjoyed ref Matthew Hyndman who when a tiny was up against a not so tiny quite rightly gave the tiny gestured hints.  The Ipswich in the club's name is a slight misnomer as the club meets in Hacheston and next month in Laxfield.

Campsea Ashe shop shutWe've only just noticed that the Campsea Ashe village shop closed back in September but is aspiring to re-open under new management.  We see no mention of post office on the shop front and wonder if like Hacheston's shop in 2008 the sub-post office had been lost?
