Framlingham in 2010

  8pm last night, it's definitely autumn.

Daisy Cooper was the Lib-Dem candidate for Suffolk Coastal in last April's general election.  While she was waiting for her take away in Framlingham last night we found out she definitely wants to stand next time, doesn't think the coalition might break, is busy helping the Suffolk Lib-Dems organise for next year's council elections and likes the sound of roller derby (she mentioned it first).

When we moved to Stately Terrace in 1998 we knew very little about Framlingham.  The easy going American charm of our neighbour Gene Waters, and the surprising friendliness of his and his wife Sally's female ginger cat George, helped us to feel comfortable in a new place.  Sadly Gene passed away Friday, the funeral is 1:15pm this Monday at St Michael's.

There were three cash point skimmers found near the coast last week and one on the Framlingham Barclays in 2008.  Though the police have pointed out they do vary in appearance they seem to come in two flavours; throat and plate and both have a pinhole camera mounted above the keypad to capture the pin ... nasty.

Framlingham Australia may be a lot smaller than Framlingham Suffolk but 18 year old Tanaya Harradine-Atkinson has been selected for a national netball team.

Skimmers found this morning on cashpoints in Framlingham, Leiston and Aldeburgh ... so that's why a police car outside Barclays this am ... or not.

Poo that's confusing!  Part of the Central Suffolk parliamentary constituency includes part of the Suffolk Coastal district council constituency but the Central Suffolk election is administered by the Mid-Suffolk district council.  Thanks to Vicky Smy at Mid Suffolk for prompt media accreditation at the last minute.

Actor Neil Pearson (Dave in Drop The Dead Donkey) was in the Framlingham Bookshop Tuesday.  He was educated at Woolverstone Hall, Ipswich.

Suffolk's now on Google Streetview (click and drag the little man at the top of the zoom control top left) and already it's a slightly historical document ... Gosia quite rightly points out there's a three legged woman outside the Framlingham Crown.

In the end the very excellent Help For Haiti raised £14,167 which will pay for at least 28 of the near 10,000 ShelterBoxes so far sent to Haiti providing shelter and home for some 100,000 people ... something to be proud of.

These ladies at Darren's fish stall in Framlingham yesterday were a hen party quiz/treasure trail and Darren had just given them a card (we'd already seen a card taped to the street name in Queen's Head Alley).

Walk of Thoughts?  We know what our thoughts were at Framlingham castle this morning in weather so filthy even the brave St John's boys and girl were cowering in their ambulance ... but despite this a very decent turn out in support of the St Elizabeth Hospice and as always bad weather didn't stop the dogs enjoying themselves.

Help For Haiti need just 84 quid before they can say Our work here is done.

Framlingham's Help For Haiti raised £13,900.44  Very impressive, eh?  Help get it up to the round £14,000 give 50p by PayPal now.

A ShelterBox is just that, a big plastic trunk containing a tent for 10, blankets, water filtration, cooking pots , tools and colouring books and crayons for the kids to get life started again.  To pay for more ShelterBoxes Juan Romero organised Help For Haiti at Framlingham College last night.  A cracking bun fight where we saw Space Cakes and the Low House Blues Band cranking it out (Derek said he'd earlier really enjoyed Laura Wright singing classical to piano accompaniment), the Dragoman donated holiday in South America went for some £1,400 in the auction and the bar was just about drunk dry of Earl Soham Brewery donated beer (we just managed to get some Tolly Roger).  All of this means over £10,000, very possibly over £12,000 was raised; that's at least 20 ShelterBoxes, 200 people seriously helped, and by god those poor souls in Haiti need and deserve help.

Around midnight in Framlingham Vanessa saw a fox trotting up College Road with a duck in its mouth.  Would it be a canard to say the town council has employed the fox to cull the ducks?

The white plastic bucket on the Framlingham post office counter has so far raised over £550 for Haiti, the Rotary of High Suffolk with seven primary schools has raised over £3,600 and this Saturday it's Help for Haiti at Framlingham College.

Earl Soham Brewery have donated the beer, Framlingham College have donated the venue and staff, Help For Haiti Saturday 13th Feb.

Guest celebrity at the Framlingham bungee jump actor (brilliant as David Blunkett in A Very Social Secretary) Bernard Hill will be hosting the first of two charity concerts for Haiti at the Halesworth Cut on the 26th February.

Saw on tv last night that the only significant temporary housing in Haiti are ShelterBoxes supplied by UK Rotarians ... and an older lady who'd had a leg amputated, had no medical supplies and hadn't eaten for four days.

A 26 year old Framlingham man was arrested Sunday after a car crash in Bedfield.  His 18 year old female passenger has been transferred to Addenbrookes with life threatening injuries.
