Over the weekend a spare wheel stolen in Hacheston and last week a sit-on mower, a concrete mixer and aluminium scaffolding were stolen from a building site in Brandeston.

It would seem Hacheston village hall has closed.

It look's like last month's Hachfest will give £8,000 to charity, its most ever.

1809  Daniel Lambert died weighing 52.5 stones (735 lbs)

The air ambulance attending at Framlingham CastleAlan Mutimer has just told us he expects Hachfest to raise about the same as last year.  Last year Hachfest and Hacheston Bygones together donated £7,700 to charity.  Appropriately one of this year's benefiting charities is the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

We can personally recommend Robert Castellani on the Sunday of this weekend's Hachfest.  He's a faintly New Age guitarist who does all that stuff that Hank Marvin never did; on the Saturday The Ballistics look fun and it's a Rosalita (also Sat nite) track on the vidprevious video

1991  The last five Shackleton aircraft were withdrawn from service with the RAF

As promised here's the video (don't forget to click watch in high quality) of yesterday's 8th Hacheston Bygones including the Crab and Winkle's Andrew Stannard in accordion mode.  previous video

Stylish owners

Lot's Old style Wolsely police carof interesting new stuff at the Hacheston Bygones today including some stylish owners, hotrods, mopeds, stationary engines, model traction engines and a Cat Protection League stall .. and yes there is another video on the way; Alan Mutimer was an absolute star, particularly when being silently heckled from behind the cameraman's back.

This Sunday it's the eighth annual Hacheston Bygones in, not surprisingly, Hacheston.  Classic and vintage cars, farm machinery, bikes, commercials ...  Not expensive to get in (profits to charity, usually the East Anglian Air Ambulance) and if you can find Hacheston you'll find the Bygones.

Cheeky Cheeky and the NosebleedsThose local cheeky chappies Cheek Cheeky are playing Glastonbury this year and headlining the Lake Stage at Latitude.  That Latitude has got very big very quickly ... wonder if they know they're clashing with Hachfest this year?

The Lion's Den in Framlingham has shut

The Lion's Den may have closed (yes they're digging up Castle Street again) but unlike Hacheston Framlingham isn't losing a shop as the former LD will almost certainly become an ice cream parlour.  Kate was extremely pleased at this prospect but not impressed by this summer's Maverick Festival as she doesn't like that sort of music.  Give it a try is our advice.

Hacheston doesn't have a shop anymore

Cuckoo TeapotThe Eastern Angles take Cuckoo Teapot out on tour next week starting Wednesday and Thursday in Saxmundham.  Over the next three months venues will include Eye, Brandeston, Bredfield, Westleton, Hacheston, Woodbridge and Orford.  Take them in before the blue meanie Arts Council finish them off.

Romaine Humphreys in her soon to be closed shop

To LetThe To Let sign says it all.  Romaine Humphreys has been running the Hacheston shop for three years but the Post Office will close Wednesday and the shop Friday.  That convenient lay by just outside means Romaine gets a lot of passing trade but it isn't enough and she was thinking about moving on even before Royal Mail announced the post office closure.  She doesn't know what she will do but will get a redundancy payment.  So if you fancy running a village shop Clarke & Simpson have it on at £4,500 per year ...
