Suffolk Singers Workshop to Premiere The Suffolk Carols

Post by des fisher » Fri Oct 05, 2018 12:44 pm

Suffolk Singers are delighted to offer singers the opportunity to be part of the premiere performance of The Suffolk Carols, newly composed by Jamie John Hutchings and commissioned by Suffolk Singers. The Suffolk Carols, comprising a triptych of Carols to celebrate Advent, Christmas and Epiphany, will be central to this year’s annual Workshop hosted by Suffolk Singers. The workshop will be led by Claire Weston whose considerable experience as a singer and gifted teacher of singing is already known to many. The choice of completely new music for the workshop is deliberate to provide a more comprehensive workshop focussing on learning new repertoire and vocal technique. Claire will be helping us understand points to look for when approaching a new work for the first time as well as offering technical guidance and correct vocal approach. The performance length for the three pieces combined will be approximately 9 minutes. Claire and John hope to achieve a start to finish learning day with the focus on a short but more polished final performance. We know that this will be a workshop with a difference and will be hugely enjoyed by all participants.

The workshop will take place on Sunday 4 November at Woodbridge School, Burkitt Road, Woodbridge IP12 4JH. The cost of the day is £22.50 to include a copy of the score and a sound bite for individual parts which will be provided in advance of the day; no charge for under 19’s.
