Dog Lane, Bedfield at around 5pm 24/01/10

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury RTC in Bedfield yesterday afternoon. A silver Subaru was in collision with a tree, an 18 year old female was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and has been transferred to Addenbrookes where she is in a critical condition. A 26 year old man from the Framlingham area was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, dangerous driving and driving without insurance and has been released on police bail, to return to Ipswich police Station on 6th March. Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen the Subaru traveling from Framlingham to Bedfield prior to the collision. Calls in relation to this incident should be made to PC Roy Dade at the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01473 613500.

Hi thanks for latest (excellent as usual) 'Near the Coast' & a special thank you for featuring my niece Emily Millican in NtC a couple of editions ago.
She was involved in the accident at Dog Lane, Bedfield & spent over 6 weeks in the very special care of the fabulous staff at Addenbrookes Hospital.
I am very happy to say she is now back home in Rickinghall with her family & is making fantastic progress.
I just want to say a big big thank you to everyone who has supported us during the last few weeks & literally kept us going, especially all those lovely souls who contributed to Emily's special facebook page 'Full Recovery to Emily' which to date has over 1,100 members!
Keep up the excellent work on NtC; we love receiving our updates.

Many thanks, Rachel Allen.. (proud & most humble aunt to the fabulous Em..)

Thanks again for your excellent digest.

Just to update you on the info I sent previously to you concerning my lovely niece Emily Millican & her involvement in the road accident at Bedfield in January. You may have seen the result of the court case in today's EADT where the defendant Robert Walker was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment & a 30 month driving ban.

I would just like to say that none of my family but especially my sister, Em's mum, really wanted to see Mr Walker end up in prison but we hope that this will deter him from ever behaving in this manner again & almost destroying some else's life. Emily is making good progress but its a long road ahead & now the court case is over we all feel we can now move on. Our grateful thanks to all those wonderful people who have supported us through this traumatic time.

Thank you, Rachel Allen (a very proud auntie indeed)

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all Rachel, especially Emily who is a really beautiful young lady.

There is so much that could be said about some of today's youngsters and the consequences of their sometimes irresponsible and potentially lethal actions behind the steering wheel of a car. Hopefully, time will heal for Emily and enable her to continue moving on with that most precious gift of all - her life. As the grandparents of two lovely kids who will soon be teenagers themselves, one can only hope that they remain sensible and safe as they grow up, but these are not easy times for any youngster.

Give Emily a big hug from two old Suffolk pensioners xx
