| The Queen Mother on Framlingham Market Hill 2nd June 1955. In the big pic John Self is in specs on the far left, Phillipa Hare presents the bouquet and on the far right peering through the car window is nine year old Jane Bloom who sent the pic. |
.jpg) Framlingham Gala 1955 Perhaps a twisted logic can be seen in the Married Ladies Skipping Race (VALUE OF PRIZES 10/- 7/6 5/-) but why did gents have to be married to enter the 100 yards handicap? The Dagenham Girl Pipers were the visiting celebrities and Miss Phillipa Hare of Yoxford was Gala Queen. (Later in the year Ms Hare presented the bouquet to the Queen Mother on the Market Hill.) WHO WANTS A 3-SPEED CYCLE (value £18)? And the same twisted logic may explain why single ladies were allowed a sack race, but then the married ladies had one too? |
