This Saturday nearthecoast the very excellent Goldmaster All Stars are back at the Ipswich Steamboat and there's a yard sale in Hasketon, Sunday it's the Suffolk Punch Spectacular at Easton Farm Park.

Astoundingly the Easton pre-school second teddy jump was even more exciting than the first. Behind the recently refurbished village hall very young motorists were savouring the anticipation by crashing into each other with a polite Excuse me!

♫ More stalls at this year's Maverick festival in Easton, perhaps fewer cowboy hats and Police Dog Hogan stormed the place with more dancers than we've ever seen plus youthful air banjoists. From Detroit the Orbitsuns' Vinnie Dombroski asked the audience What else you gonna do? Go bowling? Not round here Vinnie.
Today there are clawhammer, flatfooting and uke workshops and tonight more Orbitsuns, Otis Lee Crenshaw, Melanie and the excellent (if poorly named) Vagaband close the evening.

With a council grant Easton village hall has new joists, new floor, raised ceiling and a paint job that altogether makes it a much more pleasant space ... plus a mountain of new stuff for the pre-school. At today's pre-school open day the almost overwhelming amount going on included manicures, no really, manicures, yoga with the children surprisingly engaged and guinea pig petting. When we left three new families had joined but still space for children from 18 months upwards.

Found a bench in a shady spot at the last day of Maverick yesterday and was eating paella, drinking slightly cold fizzy water and watching the cowboy hats passing by ... couldn't see The Ragged String Band but could hear them ... thought Doesn't get much better. More pix here and here.

The Easton Rabble (what a great name, you're already on their side) are a comparatively newly formed choir but already have some 30 turning out (including half a dozen blokes) and last night were laughing a lot and making a wonderful sound to these ears. New singers of course welcome (don't have to read) and to get some stage time the choir will cheer up your event for free. More info here and more pix here.
