Soham Vic
The Vic was very on song, liver and bacon very good even
though NaTCH couldn't find any bacon and the new barmaid was making a
committed effort to be sociable which is very admirable. (Last visit

19/07/07 Huntingfield
Arms
Huntingfield is a charming village and though a bit remote
there was a healthy lot of patrons in the pub, perhaps because of the
Tuesday lunchtime special of all main courses £4.50 Arthur the
enormous mastiff dog had taken exception to Dudley for some reason though
this only manifested as some growling (which shook the floor) and walking
out of the room in protest. NaTCH and
John B
enjoyed on song Adnams though for Adnams with a surprisingly tall head.
NaTCH got a massive chicken casserole whilst John had something Italian not
as massive with chips and salad. Conversation included how John had
emphasised in the Halesworth builder's yard that it had to be cut 32 exactly
so it was cut 31.5

Ashe
Dog and Duck
Lovely
day for it and the motorcyclist who pulled into the car park with
Nick and NaTCH turned out to be
Richard V. Other lunchers
were
The Brewer ,
The Brewer's
accountant Andrew and Goddess with Max. The swordfish proved too
popular (it's meaty rather like fresh tuna but pale in colour) and one of us
had to make do with a magnificent liver and onions. Inevitably much
gossip about the audio industry, the Tunstall Green Man and the Blaxhall
Ship have both changed hands, Terry and
Barbara still have the D&D on the market but selling a pub takes time, and
Goddess quoted the excellent
Ted Ray
one liner that when he was a lad his family was very poor but they bought
him a cap so he could look out the window.

20/03/07 Dennington
Queen's Head
Bit of hail on the journey there. Chums present
John B,
new playmate Nick,
The Brewer,
NaTCH
and
Matt. Katherine also arrived with Debbie but that seemed to be just
coincidence. The Queen's is a bit restauranty but well kept Adnams and
Woodfordes' Wherry. Conversation included attempting to explain
to
The Brewer
the difference between Arnie and Rocky ... not easily done.
AfAR
from Richard V (prepping for
Frankfurt).

16/01/07 Wingfield
de le Pole Arms
Not
particularly cold but one those winter days when it rains all day and is
dark at three for
The Brewer and NaTCH to visit this somewhat remote and
recently reopened pub. It has been made over in gastro pub style but
still has public/saloon bars, a surprisingly large restaurant at the rear,
friendly staff and draught Adnams, Adnams Explorer and slightly over chilled
Adnams Old which we still enjoyed ... soon to have
ESB beer. When we
said we'd sit in the armchairs the barman (landlord?) volunteered
"Comfortable just like home". "Not at all like my house"
The Brewer replied "except neither of us have carpet."
AfARs
from Hugh (in Dublin drinking that filthy Guinness stuff),
Spadge (collecting Lotus
Élan from Biggin Hill) and
John B
(who won his case). (First visit)
