su 20 may 2007 ~ Aldeburgh on a sunny day in late spring

What you probably know about Aldeburgh is it has a festival (though most of it takes place five miles away in Snape) and you may know that Aldeburgh is infested with holiday homes owned by the sort of people who say things like No darling, grandpapa will drive us in the Mercedes.  The town was an Adnams desert until DP's started serving Earl Soham beer (nothing wrong with Adnams but a bit of variety doesn't hurt).  You can easily buy some art but are hard pressed to get a pint of milk.  Despite all this and the weekenders taking sherry on the sea wall a sunny day along Crag Path teeters on the edge of café society.
